I was contacted by a recruiter over LinkedIn. The job description showed 6-8 years of experience, and I have less than one year post-grad. The recruiter explained they were being lenient as they are expanding. After the first interview, I was forwarded to a second phone screen.
I have interviewed with other companies, including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Yelp, and this was by far the most unprofessional phone interview I have had. First off, the conversation started off in a negative mood, as any form of welcoming small talk was immediately shut down. The interviewer was hard to understand, as if his mouth was far from the microphone, which made it awkward having to ask him to repeat his questions. It was clear he had not reviewed my resume before the call, as he asked me the same question twice, even after I had already answered it previously in the conversation. He asked me for a brief overview of my technical experience, asked one question, and then said goodbye.
Honestly, it was a waste of my time. Especially after being on the fence about working for a company that has such negative reviews for company culture, an experience like this certainly wouldn't make me open to any positions within this company.
Sad.
