Pros

Work from home.

Decent work-life balance.

Job stability is pretty solid.

Cons

Poor pay package.

Poor PTO policy: started at 2 weeks and took 5 years to get an extra week. Combine that with only 6 company holidays, the whole year is well behind my peers.

Growth opportunities are kind of limited. Scope of responsibility is too narrow and cautious, which limits growth. Excessive oversight is enforced by management on the software development process.

Advice to Management

Work on leveling pay and benefits, particularly PTO against competing jobs.

Work on improving how people are managed, in terms of not just their output, but how you can turn them into better engineers. That process should be owned by management to improve their workforce, as much as by the individual.
