Pros

Great management that genuinely cares for their people, great profit sharing, and a great work environment.

Cons

Big corporate problems. These are often hard to make effective change where blatantly needed, especially after the data breach. Unrealistic goals are being set up.

Advice to Management

I would say, come up with realistic goals.

As I mentioned, there are many great things about working for Home Depot. However, there are just way too many projects in flight that are unrealistic. This causes friction among workers as the blame game starts. It also makes engineers and associates feel less empowered.

A lot of this is caused by Home Depot transitioning to an agile software development shop. Many IT projects have been dropped, but everyone is expected to still get the work done, often without proper project plans.

Still great things being done, but a very painful transition to an "agile" shop.
