Pros: Almost no pros worth mentioning. Maybe a big name.
Cons: About work time: 996. They promise to not overwork in AU, but actually, you have no choice. The same lie has been repeated for a year without any improvement.
About work detail: The infrastructure system crashes frequently. On-call could be the whole night, with no work hours adjusted the next day and no pay. Some systems and libraries are well-designed, but mostly they are full of anti-patterns, sometimes even ridiculous. I cannot imagine that happening at such a global-scale company, and many of my colleagues are shocked by that too.
About the culture: Lack of teamwork spirit, openly verbal violence, low job control, and high job demands. There is backstabbing from leaders. Some arrogant and rude colleagues from China mainland require you to fight back seriously and promptly, otherwise, they will bully you even more.
About salary: The whole compensation looks a bit higher than the average market price, but it depends on the bonus since the base salary is not high. So the trap is you need to get at least an "M" in the performance review to get the bonus, and your manager or leader could use that to gaslight you. (In China, they call it PUA). So that is why you have to 996 and not dare to stand against them. And remember, if you want to quit, you must do that after the yearly performance review, otherwise, you will get a low performance review and receive no bonus (yes, they are stack ranking too).
What is more: According to our experience working with more than 5 interns, there is no return offer for any of them. TikTok uses them as cheap labor only. Don't waste your time on that.
