No pros... maybe free food.
Too many cons, especially for engineering teams. 99% of the company is Chinese and can't even speak English. It's hard to get along with people there because they only speak Chinese. And because of that, the work culture sucks too.
Sometimes working from 9 am to 2 am for a couple of weeks only to have the manager say crap like, "Trying your best isn't enough. You still have to finish on time." There is no work-life balance at TikTok as a software engineer, maybe just the Ads team, but yeah. That's the worst.
It was terrible. The recruiter led me on for two months, saying my interview was confirmed and to wait back to hear soon that it was finalized. I waited back, but they later ghosted me. I was eventually told I was rejected after asking three times.
The interview was conducted over Zoom remotely and broken down into two parts. My first session was a one-hour behavioral interview. My second session was a three-hour SWE interview.
It's just a normal process. Dive into the project and talk about the actual problem. Solve a few problems. That's what I get in the interview. It's not super hard, but also not easy for me. It's a challenge to me.
