Pros

Is Tinder perfect? No way. Could things have been done differently in the past year? Likely yes. Are there things the company (specifically upper management) can do better? Yes. Is it a fascinating company filled with passionate employees working on interesting projects at scale? 100% yes.

Tinder offers a unique value proposition:

  • Work for a company that has truly changed the world by redefining how people meet (wear Tinder swag in public and people will stop and tell you great stories!).
  • Work with and learn from some of the smartest and most talented people in the tech community.
  • Work on a product that is being used by millions of people around the globe.
  • Work with the stability of a company that generates lots of $$$ and has lots of financial upside.
  • Work on projects that you personally can see through from start to finish.
  • Probably could list 10+ more cool things here, but I'm lazy.

Every company has room for improvement, and Tinder is no exception. BUT. Rarely will you find a company like Tinder.

Less than 200 employees worldwide (I think?), big product growth opportunities ahead (we just launched Tinder on the desktop, as an example), and we're still private (within Match), so there’s room to personally make money on the Tinder equity options. Having worked in the tech community for many years, I can confidently say Tinder is in a great league of its own.

Cons

Need new/bigger office space in Palo Alto.

No formal review process.

Need to offer performance-based bonus.

Advice to Management

Focus more on the individual contributors that make this company special.

Celebrate wins as a team more.

Define the culture and mission more clearly.

Build a bridge over Sunset Blvd between the two IAC buildings.
