First, I had a call with the recruiter to go through the job position in more detail. This was just a relaxed 30-minute initial screening chat. After that was a coding test, an hour Zoom call with two of their engineers working through an exercise in React on HackerRank. The final stage included several more calls, but I signed an NDA at this stage so not sure how much I can disclose. Overall, the process was a lot more enjoyable than at any other company I’ve interviewed for so far! The recruiter checked in before and after each call and made sure I was clear on what to expect for each stage. All of the interviewers were really nice and helped me through if I got stuck; they were happy to see my problem-solving process rather than expecting a perfect answer. It felt quite collaborative and everyone I talked to seemed to genuinely enjoy working at Toast.
