An all-around excellent interview process.

The interviews consisted of the following:

• A phone screen with a recruiter (not a technical interview).
• An initial coding interview on HackerRank with a prospective team member.
• Four interviews as part of an interview panel, conducted over the course of one day with the option to split them over two days.

The four interviews included:

• Two coding interviews.
• A system design interview.
• An executive interview.

These interviews were covered by an NDA.

I have never enjoyed an interview loop more than the one I had with Toast. From my initial phone screen with my recruiter, Karolina, to the final executive/VP interview, every single person I spoke to reinforced my good impression of Toast and the people working there. The more people I spoke to, the more I wanted to work at Toast.

It is difficult to pick a single highlight since there were so many positives, so I will mention a few:

• The initial technical phone screen with a member of the team I was interviewing for was very rewarding; it felt like I was speaking to someone I had worked with for years.
• The executive/VP interviewer was someone with whom I feel I could talk all day. I felt I could learn a lot from their experience and perspective on the software industry.
• My recruiter, Karolina, was always helpful, available, and supportive during the entire process. I felt Karolina was my advocate throughout the recruitment process, and I could not have asked for anyone better to guide me.

The interview loop has left me with an extremely positive impression of Toast, and I look forward to joining the company in the coming weeks. I highly recommend the interview loop to any software engineer seeking an opportunity to join a team that embraces innovation, fosters growth, and values its employees.
