The process started with a recruiter contacting me for a Software Engineer position. This was followed by a telephonic interview where I was asked about design patterns. I was then asked to write code for generating Fibonacci numbers up to one million. This was followed by an onsite interview.
The onsite interview began with an HR representative asking me questions relating to my knowledge of TripAdvisor. Basically, they wanted to gauge my understanding of the company and the position. Next, a member of the software engineering team gave me a coding task: writing a web crawler. This led to a discussion about various algorithms, such as DFS and BFS. The coding task involved recursion, and we discussed the approach I would be following. The interviewer expected me to write the code with exact syntax for a specified language.
