Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

I spoke to a representative at a job fair and was asked to visit my university's career center for a brief interview the same day.

At the time, I didn't realize that I was sitting for a purely technical screening.

We shook hands, and then I was asked several pretty standard questions related to data structures and algorithms (though I was out of practice and stumbled poorly).

The interviewer was very polite, spoke briefly about what his team did, and gave useful advice.

Questions

Write code to determine whether a string of arbitrary length is a palindrome. It should be close to compilable.

What is a hash table? What is a 'good' hash function? Explain multiple approaches to collision handling.
