Process

Simple 3-Step Interview. Took almost 4 weeks.

  1. Hiring Manager Call: Mixed questions related to motivation to join the company, typical personality traits, and salary expectations.

  2. Technical Interview: Two 30-minute rounds.

  • First round: Questions related to daily technical challenges in the team you are being hired for.
  • Second round: A medium-complexity LeetCode problem.
  1. Culture Fit: A 60-minute call with 3-5 main team members. Expect the Senior QA guy, Product Manager, Technical Manager, and Technical Lead on the call. Behavioral and team performance-based questions.

  • What is your strength/weakness?
  • Why should we hire you?
  • Do you know how Trivago's business works?
  • What are your salary expectations?
  1. Technical Interview:
  • When would you use Python's Django/Flask? What are their pros and cons?
  • Discuss Redis cache strategies and scenarios related to caching.
  • Explain queue-related questions and scenarios for handling/delivering messages at scale.
  • What is a REST API?
  • Solve the LeetCode 3SUM problem.
  • Bonus: There was a twist in the problem.
  1. Culture Fit:
  • How do you minimize risk in a hard deadline situation?
  • How do you resolve conflicts with your peers outside of work?
  • What drives you at work?
  • How do you learn from failures?
  • How do you communicate effectively within your team? What steps do you take for that?
  • Do you enjoy presentations or the actual technical work for the subject you are presenting?
