I initially engaged with Trivago's hiring process in mid-2015.
I was using the services of a British recruiting agency specializing in Germany. They connected me with an HR representative from Trivago. He kindly asked me to complete a "homework" case study, which was a PHP coding task.
Afterwards, I was invited to a Skype interview with a tech specialist. My interviewer was extremely polite and friendly, and I had a very positive impression after this conversation. He asked a lot about coding best practices and specific technologies, and did not hesitate to explain some points where I was struggling.
Then, they invited me for an onsite interview in Dusseldorf. My stay and all travel expenses were reimbursed (I couldn't refuse a stay at the Radisson Blu, just a few steps from the company's office).
The onsite consisted of two interviews.
Couple of weeks later, I received an offer but refused it due to private circumstances.
Almost two years later, I finally realized that my dream had not come true and decided to start over with Trivago.
At this stage, the recruitment process was quite swift, with no onsite interviews this time. It took around two weeks. I had two interviews with tech leads.
Finally, I snatched this dream offer and started preparing myself and my family for the move to Dusseldorf!
