Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

A SendGrid recruiter reached out regarding a position and was very friendly initially. After the initial interviews, an on-site interview was scheduled.

During the on-site, the hiring manager used language such as, “I have a 40+ person who is old on my team.” I was sitting across the table from him, and he had a white beard.

In the conversation, it was revealed that almost everyone left the team when the hiring manager took over. The hiring manager was rude, condescending, and unprofessional.

After the interview, the recruiter called and said, “I just bumped into the hiring manager; the answer is no. I will get back to you with feedback,” and then promptly stopped answering emails and calls.

I will not recommend this opportunity.
