Good work-life balance, but it depends on the team.
Favoritism is rampant in India, especially.
Generally, 90% of L4/L5 managers are from WITCH companies.
WITCH tier managers only promote WITCH talent from IC to management.
WITCH talent at Twilio India knows they are not talented. If there is some high-caliber talent on the team (say, ex-Microsoft, NIT/IIT grad), they gang up like eunuchs and file fake complaints that the high-caliber talent is difficult to work with. I have seen multiple such cases, and since WITCH tier talent has an iron grip on the management hierarchy, such cases are never acted upon.
Finally, high-caliber talent leaves this rat hole filled with WITCH tier talent and joins FAANG at a higher level, doubling their TC. And the rats in the rat hole remain rats.
Why were 90% of WITCH tier talent promoted to L4/L5 management levels in India?
And this does not happen in the US?
It has severely degraded the workforce quality in India. Because X player hires Y players, and Y players hire Z players, and Z players hire trash talent, and the company revenue growth tanks to a single digit.
The interview dragged on endlessly. It was filled with an overwhelming number of irrelevant questions that had nothing to do with the actual role, making the entire experience exhausting, confusing, and unnecessarily drawn out.
1. First round of the interview: Background on resumes and some high-level project questions. 2. Second round of the interview: Coding interview – simple, real-life scenario questions (not LeetCode style or algorithm questions).
Probably the smoothest interview process I’ve ever had! The recruiter was super quick to respond and made me feel informed and at ease every step of the way. The interviewing team were also super easy to interact with and showed genuine interest.
