Pros: Almost everyone on my team had a PhD, and everyone was really smart.
Two Sigma does a good job letting you explore around the company and learn.
I really appreciate the culture of learning and teamwork at Two Sigma.
Two Sigma focuses a lot on diversity as well.
I didn't notice any direct impact on work/experience from the CEO's feuding. Also, the work-life balance was really good (9-5).
Cons: Two Sigma has been having headcount issues recently. Also, I wish the pay progression was comparable to some of the firms in the industry.

A Good Place to Work

Pros: Quite a nice place to work! People are generally friendly and pretty smart. The tech stack is more modern than I thought it would be, given that the company was founded around the mid-2000s. I particularly approve of the top management, in particular the founders, for giving the company an overall good culture.
Cons: Pretty siloed as a software engineer. Not much interaction with other parts of the company outside your immediate team.
No free food, although in NYC this isn't as much of a problem. Also, as an intern I definitely felt like I was given an "intern project" as opposed to being treated as a part of the team, especially when compared to other companies I've worked at.
