Senior Software Engineer - Frontend • Former Employee
Pros: Well-intentioned corporate culture and values.
Excellent compensation, bonus, and equities, given the Brazilian context.
Good healthcare plan (Care Plus); other benefits are just okay.
Cons: Your experience as an employee is heavily dependent on your current team.
In my case, that meant:
* No onboarding documentation (or project documentation) whatsoever.
* A trial and error approach for using internal tools.
* Facing unknown errors that no one could identify.
* Very low productivity overall.
My manager basically bounced the responsibility back to me whenever I asked for help, skeptically disregarding the problems I reported, until I collected hard evidence and planned a whole refactor for the project.
There was a lack of ANY corp architectural guidance for web development, while having to use a whole suite of proprietary tooling on a daily basis.
Internal libraries and tools were poorly documented or simply didn't cover the use cases they were advertised to be used.
Repository-related tooling was particularly painful; even after correctly developing your feature, good luck pushing it into prod.
The whole environment, from mid-level management to tooling and processes, made it very difficult to give reliable estimates and be productive overall.
And good luck explaining all of that to your manager, who will probably strip out your bonus or worse.
