Process
After a phone screen on behavioral/fit, I was scheduled for a full loop of 5 one-hour interviews. The interviews mostly focused on system design and behavioral questions. Specifically, I was asked behavioral, past experience, design, and fit-related questions.
The answers do not matter as much as your deep experience with those technologies.
Questions
Example topics: Memcached, Kafka, Blocking queue.
With remote interviewers, design can be tough since no whiteboard is normally used.

- Code quality and a lot of room to learn.
- Uber has a lot of internal tools that make coding easier.

Pros: - Genuinely fun people to work with.
- Products are consumer-facing, so it's easy to see real-world impact.
- Great pay and benefits, including a 401k match, good healthcare, and unlimited PTO.
- Hybrid work culture.
Cons: Cons:
* Severe drop in engineering culture.
* In the chase to standardize engineer performance, numerous cracks have shown in the product itself.
* WLB used to be manageable, but with recent changes, WLB requires more work just to hit certain performance metrics (meaningless performance metrics).
* No more innovation, just rinse and repeat the same product with barely any updates. Or look at competitors and copy exactly what they're doing.
* Lack of answers regarding the future of the company.

Pros: - Super challenging and unique problems
- Hyper-growth company with amazing opportunities to learn and grow
Cons: - Work/life balance could be better, but this is the flip side of the coin for any hypergrowth company.
- The company, in general, is doing a pretty bad job of telling its story to the world, especially considering how many exciting things there are to tell. This definitely needs significant improvement.
