Software Engineer L4 Interview Experience

Process

I applied through a recruiter.

The process was very standard: a phone round followed by four interviews, including system design, behavioral, specialisation, and a LeetCode round. If you are from Brazil and are paired with bitter Americans, your chances of success are very small. They don't want you, and it showed during interviews in their hostility, unlike interviews done by people in Brazil. I was good on all four rounds, and still they found room for rejection, and they announced the role again on LinkedIn. Honestly, I am not even sure if the role even exists. It is a very dangerous waste of time. You study hard for the interview, and even after doing well, they reject you if you are not absolutely perfect, I suppose. I think it is about those uncomfortable scenarios in which if you don't study you have no chance, but if you do and do well, you are still at the mercy of luck. Interview only if you can take rejection as a given. It is just too random.

Questions

In the code specialization, which was frontend, they asked me a question in which you need to execute tasks given they have dependent tasks. For example, if A->B, that means you have to execute B before A. So if we have A->B,C and B->C, the order of execution can only be C-B-A. This requires very good knowledge of JavaScript, specifically the handling of promises. You should not come to the interview without having done difficult JavaScript questions and knowing how to build UIs. But then again, you could ace it as I did and still be rejected for bogus reasons.
