Process

Applied via a friend referral. The interview process consisted of two rounds of phone interviews: the first focused on coding, and the second on system design. You need to pass them one by one.

Following the phone interviews, an onsite interview was scheduled with five rounds:

  • The first round was a culture fit/behavioral interview, which was essentially a conversation about your projects and motivation for joining Uber.
  • Next was a system design round.
  • This was followed by another open-ended problem-solving session with some coding.
  • Then, there was a full coding round.
  • Finally, another chat session combined with a design element.

Overall, the company places a high value on culture fit and your project background, with more than half of the total interview time dedicated to discussions.

The coding questions were fairly easy. They aimed to evaluate your performance in day-to-day coding tasks by asking about your approach to code reviews and writing unit tests, among other things.

Interviewers were super busy but passionate about Uber, and they expect the same enthusiasm from candidates.
