I interviewed for an iOS engineer position. The whole process took about a month and a half. It could have gone faster, but personal reasons caused the delay.
I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. The process went pretty smoothly.
The phone screen mainly involved solving a LeetCode question on HackerRank. I received an email the next day about passing the phone screen and scheduling the on-site interview.
The on-site interview was quite different from my previous experiences. You need to bring your own laptop with your preferred development tools. The first interview was a 1.5-hour slot to build an iOS app from the ground up, based on provided requirements. I could use any tools, libraries, or package management systems I liked. I was mostly alone in the room unless I had questions. After that, I met with a manager for a behavioral interview during lunch. Then, I met with the same interviewer from the first round for a deep dive into the app I had written. Following that, I had a system design question. Lastly, I completed a coding round on HackerRank, where the code needed to be running and able to pass test cases.
Up to this point, everything had gone pretty smoothly, and the people I met on-site were all super nice and friendly.
However, after the on-site interview, the recruiter became quite unresponsive. She had promised to get back to me by the end of the week but didn't provide any information for a week and a half, not even a status update on why it was taking longer than expected. Once she informed me about the offer, she became very pushy. I mentioned I had other interviews I wanted to attend, but she insisted I give her an answer within a week. I ended up receiving a counter offer, which bought me more time. I declined the Uber offer because the other offer was better. The recruiter was quite understanding about it in the end.
