Process

I applied through LinkedIn. The recruiter reached out and scheduled a tech screen.

The recruiter then sent me an email stating that in the first interview, I could ask questions about the role, responsibilities, and any challenges. I had many questions.

It was one of the worst interviews I had. The interviewer did not introduce himself and did not give me time to ask questions. He asked me to introduce myself. After my introduction, the interviewer asked me about any challenging task I had worked on so far. I explained one of the challenging tasks that my team and I consider complex and that saves a few million dollars. After listening to my explanation, the interviewer asked, "Is it challenging for you?" I felt he was being sarcastic.

Next, the interviewer asked me to get into the coding part and pasted the question in Codesignal. I read through the question and had a few follow-up questions. When I asked those questions, the interviewer asked me to read the question again instead of answering me. I felt this was disrespectful.

Anyways, I explained my approach and started my solution. To my confession, I was not able to finish the implementation on time. I thought the interviewer might give some time towards the end for any questions I may have regarding the company, role, etc. However, the interviewer ended the interview abruptly, saying, "Okay. Time is up. Bye."

Maybe the interviewer was having a bad day. During the interview, I was sometimes smiling while answering questions, but there was no smile on the interviewer's face.
