Great engineering shop solving huge problems
Unlike some of the other good engineering shops, Uber gives you a chance to develop something from the ground up. Uber is still scaling its engineering team, tooling, processes, etc. So there is endless opportunity to pick up something, run with it, and make things easier for the next set of engineers.
Engineering culture is very merit-based. Very little gets in the way of you building something new.
The company is very open to change. It is pleasantly surprising how much I was able to change and influence as an engineer in my first few months.
If you come from another big company, you will miss the tooling, infra, etc., as it is still under development at Uber.
Continue to ensure that the Engineering bar doesn't get lowered over time.
