Pros: - Amazing coworkers. I loved every team I was in; they had a very collaborative spirit. Then again, we were all moved into Unity from Finger Foods, so that culture was bred prior to Unity. - Supportive managers who valued personal growth for each team member. - As a major player in the game development space, powering countless indie and AAA games, and VR/AR experiences, the projects I got to work on were exciting and interesting. - Unity embraced remote and hybrid work models, making it easier to maintain work-life balance.

Cons: Multiple rounds of layoffs (in 2023 and 2024) created job insecurity and affected team morale. I saw so many waves of incredible coworkers get let go due to poor management decisions.

Pros: Good benefits (medical, RRSP, stock options). Good amount of PTO and sick days. Supportive & welcome environment for diverse employees.

Cons: Lots of changes since the Fall 2023 leadership change. They laid off their head of DE&I in early 2024.

Pros: Coming from internship to full-time for 2 years now, I find that Unity coworkers are some of the best I've ever had. There is indeed a culture of being "in it together" in a way that is not competitive (IC-level and middle managers ❤️). I'm in the department previously known as "Accelerate Solutions" and I love the diversity of projects, industries, clients, and tech that we get to work with!! I really feel that all opinions are heard democratically regardless of job level. A good idea is a good idea. There are also frequent events in the office and a great workplace culture if you are open to it! - Free lunches every day ❤️ - Annual compensation review cycles.

Cons: I used to believe in our leadership team years ago, but honestly, I don't know how things could get worse right now. The C-suite team and other directors have been making a series of terrible decisions for the past couple of years, and this recent runtime fee announcement has honestly been the last straw for my faith in our leaders. How such tone-deaf decisions could be released with such little afterthought, tact, research, nor care for our users, on whom this whole company had been based. The values that made me admire this company were trashed with little regard, and honestly, I don't know how we can regain all the trust that was lost. If all this had happened years ago, I would never have pursued a career in Unity development, and I will find it difficult to recommend now. Unity used to be my dream place to work, and I had rated it 5 stars back then, but now it has really changed. Also, relatively lower pay than the competitive market.
