A recruiter from Unity reached out to me on LinkedIn to discuss a Software Engineer role.
First, I had a phone interview with the recruiter, where they told me more about the role itself and asked general questions about my education background and skills. Throughout the phone screening, the recruiter was lovely and made me feel incredibly at ease.
Afterwards, I waited for feedback for about a week, but the recruiter was incredibly responsive to any questions I had in the meantime. Then, my application was passed on to another recruiter and proceeded to the next stage, which consisted of an interview with a Lead member of the Software Engineer team.
This second interview lasted a little over an hour, and I was once more surprised by how welcoming and comfortable the whole process was. I never felt critically scrutinized, but instead, it felt like I was having a formal conversation about my skills and why I would love to work for Unity.
Once this stage was over, I waited for about two weeks before hearing that I was successful and would proceed to the final interview, which consisted of speaking with two Lead members of the team. During the waiting period, the recruiter reached out to me multiple times with additional information on the role and general updates. I think it's quite rare to see this amount of dedication and time given to a candidate! It was a refreshing experience!
Lastly, the final interview lasted about two hours. It was an opportunity for me to talk about my previous professional experiences, skills, and educational background, and for the interviewers to describe what it's like to work at Unity. Once again, the interview never felt tense or unpleasant, and both Lead members were genuinely interested in what I had to say and never dismissed my opinions or questions, which has unfortunately happened to me during other hiring processes at other companies.
Finally, once the final interview was done, I waited only a week before hearing back from the recruiter with an offer!
Overall, this experience was lovely! Everyone was amiable and kind; the recruiters always made an effort to actively keep in touch and be responsive. Furthermore, they went out of their way to grant me a more informal interview with other members of the team to simulate what it would be like to meet them during an office tour!
The best hiring process I have been through so far!
