Process
The interview process involved a rather long take-home assignment, which I had to write in a language I had never used before.
It was fun to learn the new language and put it all together, but it took well over 10 hours, including the time spent learning the language, and this was before I had a good feel for the role.
Additionally, I was then asked for my references before receiving an offer, which seems like a backwards approach.
