Pros
  • Unity looks good on your CV, at least for now.
  • We're still having some perks, though they keep cutting them on a quarterly basis.
Cons

Unless you like the political game, run away from here. People only get far bootlicking.

Insane title inflation. You get Staff engineers with skills that a junior can do better, or senior managers with no previous management experience or project management experience. None of this is their fault, but the lack of actual definitions of roles, the heavy politics games and favoritism, and a core totally rotten, is the cause. Just look at the popularity of the company in the eyes of our customers, and assume that that’s only the tip of the iceberg, as many of the bad things remain internal.

Unity is great at creating artificial problems just to justify the promotion of a manager, at the cost of their users.

Advice to Management
  • Not to management, as they won’t even read. But I wish they would hold themselves accountable instead of ignoring our feedback and then telling us that we should “disagree and commit” and “own the outcome.” (Basically, do as they say, and when they make a mistake, it means “we all made a mistake.”)
