Engineering is over 90% tech bros, with very little diversity. Work expectations are not well defined. It is a very stressful environment to work in. There is incompetent middle management. There is no real follow-up on issues raised in employee surveys.
Talk to employees and listen. And not just to people who are physically in the office.
