Alphabet back up, no funding pressure. Have some smart people and engineers. Impactful domain.
Unless you are super, super passionate about the healthcare industry, it's not worth joining.
When they try to attract talent, they will pitch you from Google/Alphabet's backup (culture, funding, etc.).
When they try to burn you out and cut benefits, they will say, "We are NOT Google, so don't expect the same culture and benefits as Google."
Leadership cannot make up its mind at all what Verily is in terms of company culture.
Pay is not up to market if you are a senior person from external hiring, and refreshers are not guaranteed.
Due to unclear self-recognition, day-to-day work for engineers is a challenge. Should they move fast like a startup? Should they move slow like Google? Leadership has no clue or direction, so it causes tons of confusion to engineers.
Make it clear what Verily is: a startup or a department of Google. Trying to stay in the middle and be fuzzy is only causing confusion and distrust.
First round: Standard coding interview. Virtual Onsite -> Received a long email with so many topics to prepare for the onsite. During the onsite, all 4 interviews were about coding, DS/Algorithms. 3 out of 4 ended up being DFS/BFS for Tree/Graph. No
The interview process consisted of: * 5 x 45-minute remote interviews. * 3 general software engineering questions (LeetCode style). * 1 system design question. * 1 domain-specific question. The general software engineering questions would have been
I had a recruiter call to share information about the company and role. We discussed my experiences, and they mentioned I would have a phone screen followed by an onsite interview with 4-5 rounds. The recruiter call lasted approximately 30-40 minutes
