VeriSign is a very laid-back place to work.
Management lets most people work from home when they want to.
Management is very eager to help you find a product or area where you want to work, so it is fairly easy to move around and talk with managers about what you want to do.
The company is not very stable, as there have been downsizings. I wouldn't recommend getting a job at VeriSign in its current state. Although management is laid back, it makes it hard to get things done. Most groups do not have enough employees, so delayed projects are common. Priorities seem to change all the time, and the company is constantly in "firefighting" mode due to bad deployments or other mistakes.
There needs to be more focus on software development fundamentals so that there aren't so many mistakes or fire fights.
Processes need to be put in place across the board to avoid all this.
Employees have too many projects and priorities, so product focus is lacking in many areas.
