Stock benefits are good. Work from Office (WFO) is flexible. Early increments compared to other companies.
As a Senior Software Engineer, I expected a professional and respectful work environment, but unfortunately, there is no peace in the company.
Even after working on weekends, my manager’s feedback was dismissive, saying "You're dumb, you take your sweet time."
The worst part is my team lead, who has been with Verizon for 10 years—he treats me like trash and does not respect my contributions.
Permanent employees look down on vendors, treating them as less than human. The way vendors are treated is highly unprofessional and degrading.
Advice for Management:
Employees should not be insulted or demeaned by managers or team leads. Conduct leadership training to ensure respectful communication and a positive feedback culture.
Recognize weekend work and overtime efforts instead of dismissing them. Encourage realistic deadlines to prevent burnout.
Stop discriminatory behavior against vendors and treat them with professionalism and respect. Provide growth opportunities for both permanent employees and contractors.
Monitor long-tenured employees (10+ years) who may abuse authority. Implement 360-degree feedback where employees can review their managers.
Instead of calling employees "dumb," offer constructive feedback. Appreciation boosts morale and improves performance.
Final Note: Verizon has great benefits and compensation, but workplace culture needs serious improvement. Employees should be treated as humans first, resources second. 🚀
