Software Engineering Intern Interview Experience

Process

Very disorganized coding challenge interview. The interviewer, a Visa software engineer, did not seem to have the proper instructions on how to hold the interview.

Instructions were not clear, unlike my other experiences with HackerRank video call interviews.

Questions

Reverse a linked list. This was an easy problem, but the instructions were vague, and I was not given any framework, like a class, to work with.

General questions about my programming experience:

  • Fixing basic spelling and grammar mistakes.
  • Adding newlines and spacing as appropriate.
  • Formatting lists with bullet points when they're there but in plain text.
  • Adding newlines in appropriate places to make things seem less "wall-of-text"-ey.
  • For numbered or bulleted lists, keep the list items close together without extra newlines between each point.
  • Do not bother formatting into a bulleted list if there are not at least 2 items to display.
