The workplace is very casual and the culture is fantastic. Everyone is super nice and sociable, and the managers are easy to talk to when you meet them in person. There are some flashy benefits, such as a paid half-week trip to San Francisco.
It's impossible to get people to respond to you. Managers will often stop responding to IMs in the middle of a conversation, or never follow up on emails.
The project work was laid out in a muddled and unorganized way. We barely had any idea of what we were doing for the first two weeks, and there are zero milestone goals to keep our work organized. This is not helped by management being so unresponsive.
Though we're working towards our overall project goals and learning new concepts, work feels aimless and unengaging a lot of the time, especially when struggling with the 3rd-party software is more difficult than learning the project-required language.
On the whole, the experience just feels rather unprofessional and unorganized.
Train your employees to actually pay attention to interns and set smaller, and more importantly, clearer goals for the projects they work on.
