I applied through LinkedIn and received a call from HR. Soon after, an introductory call was scheduled with a senior leadership member. I waited for the call, but it never happened. I had to follow up with HR, and the call was rescheduled.
This time, I received the call on another day. It was a rather generic interview where I was asked about my previous experience and the work I had done.
Afterward, I was asked to visit their office for a presentation. The task involved a case study from their website, focusing on implementing features to help grow their business. This was to be followed by further in-person interviews.
HR seemed under the impression that I would arrange my own travel. I had to remind them after a few days that they needed to send me tickets and arrange my accommodation.
When they finally sent the ticket and accommodation details, it stated that this was for a Product Manager position. However, I had applied for an Engineering Manager position. I had to ask HR again if there was some confusion about the role. She acknowledged the mistake and asked me to come nevertheless.
Upon landing at Bengaluru airport, no one was there to pick me up, despite being informed that a chauffeur would be present to take me to the hotel. I had to call HR again late at night. She arranged a pickup afterward by contacting administration. The administration had not been made aware of my visit.
The next morning, as I was giving my presentation, the team was not fully engaged. They repeatedly suggested alternative approaches, saying, "This can be done this way or that way." Interviews at this level are typically open-ended, but they seemed content with their own thought processes and frequently asked me to skip parts of my presentation. I confidently attempted to address all their doubts and confusions.
Their AVP joined for the next round and asked me some puzzles and simple technical questions, all of which I answered correctly.
Subsequently, a junior team member was assigned to interview me technically. He asked basic questions and seemed unfamiliar with the specifics of the position I had applied for. I answered all his questions confidently.
While I remained optimistic about my performance and awaited further interview rounds, I was suddenly asked to leave for the day.
Overall, it was an unfavorable experience, stemming from both HR and the technical panel.
