Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Bengaluru, India

Process

I was interviewed at WM Labs for a Software Engineer 3 role.

There were three rounds of interviews, which involved Data Structures, Algorithms, JavaScript/ReactJS, followed by a managerial round. The interview went smoothly, and the HR confirmed my selection via email.

I was excited about the offer, as I had always wanted to work for a company like WM. But the problem started after that.

"WORST HR EXPERIENCE EVER" (From a "Top Performer," as she claims)

I received email confirmation of my selection on March 13th, 2019, and the offer letter was rolled out after one month, on April 14th. I was asked to join in 30 days, which I could not agree to as I had a three-month notice period to serve. The HR had never discussed anything about the notice period or my expectations before scheduling the interview.

My current employer was not ready to relieve me early, and I requested the HR to change the dates via email. She called me and told me that she would not extend the joining date.

This HR is so unprofessional. She never responds to emails and prefers all discussions to happen on WhatsApp and phone. My joining date passed, and there was no response to my date-extension email. This put me under a lot of pressure, as I had already resigned from my current company. I was stressed and depressed, as I had to find another job and managed to secure other offers.

Almost a week after my original DOJ, the offer was extended by 15 days without consulting me (I had always requested 90 days).

A week later, she set up a meeting for "lunch with the manager." On the day of the meeting, while I was on my way to the WM office, she canceled it without informing me beforehand. She behaved rudely when I questioned why I hadn't been informed earlier (I had taken time off for the appointment). After a long discussion, I managed to have the lunch meeting on the same day. There, I met the hiring manager, who was a great guy. He was clearly unaware of how this HR handled candidates.

Though I eventually received a 90-day extension, I rejected the offer due to the WORST HR experience I've ever had in my life (who thinks she owns Walmart).

This HR also claims she is a "TOP PERFORMER." (Goes to any extent to pressure candidates and becomes a top performer ;-))

Please fire such employees. HRs represent the company, and this is really not good for such a big brand like Walmart.

I am sure many other candidates have suffered the same kind of experience with this HR.

Please take this seriously!
