Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Carlsbad, California

Process

Walmart Labs.

My wife laughed when I said it. Two words that just don't seem to belong together. Do you really want people laughing when you tell them where you work? They have an uphill climb.

That being said, the people I met were nice, mostly. Some technical questions came up, nothing too difficult. One question was how to architect a screen of the app, and the interviewer could not have seemed more uninterested. I barely got a reply or comment out of him.

A long day, but it seemed to go well. Then I never heard anything: no call, no email, nothing. And they had reached out to me and pitched me on the opportunity (against my natural inclination to avoid having 'Walmart Labs' on my resume). Weird.

Also, it seems like people there are just cashing paychecks. I pointed out a bug on the front page of their website, but no one seemed to care (it still isn't fixed). One guy even laughed. There were also some serious performance bugs with the app, but they didn't seem too concerned.

Maybe they dinged me for pointing those out — this is not a person who is going to last at Walmart Labs! In other words, if you take pride in your work, I don't think this is the place for you.
