Software Engineer Interview Experience - Reston, Virginia

Process

The interview process begins with a phone screen, followed by an online coding exercise, and then an onsite interview.

Walmart recruiters are the slowest I have come across. My recruiter was someone named Burgos.

Their interview process is so long that Amazon releases at least 1-2 products by that time. The recruiter emails you about your interest and then forgets you for a month. After following up numerous times, the recruiter gets back to you with a phone screen, which you will easily crack.

Following the phone screen, they provide an open-ended coding exercise. If you are a decent developer who builds quality products, you will spend at least 5-6 hours on the exercise (which is the total time for Uber + Amazon interviews).

The worst part is you need to follow up extensively to hear feedback on your code, and the recruiter doesn't even care to respond. I know for sure that my code was not so bad that they would reject it without an email.

My feedback for them is to be more responsive to candidates and appreciate the time candidates spend on their exercises, rather than being disrespectful.
