The interviewer and I had a similar number of years of experience. He was IN3 or IN4, and he was interviewing me for an IN5 role. His insecurities kicked in, and he started telling me that I should know what role I am applying for.
In my current organization, I am an SE2, and my profile was shortlisted for an IN5 role at Walmart.
The interviewer told me that I should know I am skipping a level in between and that it's a very senior role. He asked if I had read the JD before applying.
I don't know if they have some internal training for people who are interviewing, but if not, they should definitely start one.
