I received a direct, on-site interview call. I had four in-person interviews, followed by lunch. A week later, I had two Skype interviews with the team.
Experience:
Initially, the process was going quite well. The recruiter and coordinator were very nice. Then, I had four interviews with:
According to me, all my interviews went well, and the interviewers seemed satisfied with my responses. Specifically, the Principal Software Engineer was excellent, and I enjoyed our conversation.
Sadly, two of my interviewers did not directly engage with me during the interview or make eye contact while responding to my questions. I recall one instance where I was explaining my solution to the Sr. Manager on the whiteboard, and he was not listening. He was occupied with his MacBook. I felt as though I was talking to a wall and even paused for a minute.
Something similar happened with another interviewer who took three to five phone calls while I was solving a problem on the whiteboard.
Another unprofessional aspect was that three out of four interviewers did not bother to ask if I had any questions for them or why I wanted to work there.
After these interviews, I had lunch with other team members, where I met very nice people. We were told we would receive our results by early the following week.
I did not receive my results by Thursday, even after informing the recruiter about another offer's deadline. After multiple emails to the recruiter, I was told the following Thursday that the team was busy fixing a high-priority issue and wanted to conduct a few more interviews before making a final decision. I promptly requested to schedule them immediately.
I truly appreciate the recruiter's effort throughout the entire process; he was a very pleasant person. Regardless, I had two Skype interviews back-to-back within the next two hours. Both went quite well, and there were two to three questions I didn't know the answer to, but overall, I had a good feeling about the interviews.
The next morning, I was informed that my skill set did not match their requirements. I was not happy to hear this, but it was my first interview rejection for which I felt no regret or sadness. I am hoping it was not the perfect fit for me.
