One of the best reasons I like working for Walmart is because of how flexible I’m able to be with scheduling. I’ve worked closing shifts now for the last three years, but I’ve been able to shift and change my schedule slightly depending on if I’m doing college or not, with little to no issue. The job itself is relatively easy, and the workplace atmosphere is nice. Full-time benefits are great too, especially with access to things like their educational and insurance benefits.
Some of the only downsides I can truly say about the place is that staffing issues have been terrible at times. But even then, that’s mostly a result of the pandemic, since every place has been short lately.
If not that, then the pay, which right now is around $13/hr for front-end associates. It’s not the best, especially considering some of the other departments have a higher wage than us.
Definitely hire more people or raise the wage for front-end associates. Working with an understaffed team, or even an understaffed management team, is extremely hard. If they’re going to expect us to do as much work as a full team of people, we should at least be getting paid for it.
The interview involved a basic setup where the interviewer asked about my availability and any prior experience I had with customer service or similar roles. Since Walmart hires frequently, I obtained the position fairly quickly.
It was very easy and straightforward. They didn’t ask much, mainly focusing on what they want from you and how you can fit that role. Most times, it’s only one person interviewing. The interview is in person and lasts less than 30 minutes.
I walked into HR and asked for a job. It was given to me on the same day. If you're lucky, the interview can be booked pretty quickly. Overall, the interview isn't too harsh and is very basic.
