Pros

Walmart has good tech. Most of their framework works on the open-source Electrode, which runs on React. That's cool.

Cons
  1. They hire people that do not know how to use a computer just to fit the ethnic/racial quota. There are a few people like these that are "developers," and the only thing they do is ask other people to do their job for them. If you deny help, well, you might not get a promotion.

  2. There is a clear separation between Product and Engineering. This makes the ambience hard to work with, as Product will not care for technical improvements, and Engineering will not care if the requirements are not recommended. Thus, at the end of the day, you get a wonky product that works as it was meant to, but that is not the best.

  3. Product leadership is run by people who know nothing about tech. I did not have the experience to work with such people personally, but a Walmart full-time employee that loves this place told me that working with such people is horrible because they do not know how to use a computer.

  4. No alcohol. One time, I got invited to a happy hour (even though contractors don't get anything like that), but the beer was alcohol-free. That is just wrong.

  5. If you are a contractor, there will not be any parking onsite. You have to park a few blocks away.
