Opportunity to work on products with massive scale and reach.
A few solid peers and pockets of talented teams doing their best.
The brand name still holds weight on a resume.
Leadership lacks depth. A lot of senior folks come off as inexperienced or overly political. They came from a company (IYKYK) and ruined the Walmart culture.
Decision-making feels top-heavy and disconnected from day-to-day realities.
Trying too hard to mimic the culture without really understanding what made it work. Instead of ownership and clarity, you get chaos and micromanagement.
Poor alignment and context switching. Priorities change constantly, and there’s no real communication to explain why.
Focus on optics, not outcomes. There’s a lot of noise around visibility and "narratives," but little actual progress.
Low trust culture. Psychological safety is basically non-existent. It’s hard to have honest conversations without fear of it being held against you.
Stop copying playbooks and start solving real organizational problems.
Empower leaders who build trust, not noise.
Focus on long-term outcomes, not just performance optics.
Listen to feedback early & act early.
The interview was tough, but I was able to crack it. The problem was with HR. The HR representative was so rude and thought they were adding value to the company by showing off that they work for Walmart. Pay is as important as talent, so stop actin
- Was referred by an employee. - Had a brief call with HR regarding the interview process and the role. - Tech interview 1 over video call where screen sharing was required. - Tech interview 2 over video call.
There were 3 rounds of interviews. The first 2 were DS Algo. The third was system design. The interviewer did not even know what round it was. This was so unprofessional. He had problems around the indexing structure of the DB. Being a senior person,
