Cons

I worked as a front-end developer for close to 2 years and realized:

  • Bootlicking makes you a better person on the team.
  • Create more Confluence pages and work less on coding.
  • The manager is always right – even if it means 1+3=1.
  • The environment is toxic, and the manager is poisoning the team.
  • North Indians versus South Indian racism prevails.
  • Developers lack basic knowledge of coding but are involved in discussions on architecture, lol.
  • Managers are from a service background with zero experience in a product-based company.
  • They are recruited solely based on the Women in Tech quota.
  • Managers lack basic communication skills.
  • Managers are bootlickers to their peers in the USA and bow down to any requirement thrown at them.
  • Zero compassion towards the team, especially regarding working hours.
Advice to Management
  1. Have meaningful connect with the teams.
  2. Have a skip-level meeting and understand the pain points.
  3. Weed out managers who micromanage or don't have any experience in product-based companies.
  4. Learn to appreciate developers, who are the ground workers. Managers are just dummy little people nodding their heads over all requirements.
  5. It's a tech company - act like one, be like one.
  6. Respect the ground workers, else there are many opportunities outside.
