Process

I was asked to take a HackerRank test. It was a test of 1 hour 30 minutes with React and Spring Boot questions.

In one and a half hours, I don't know how anyone can complete the exercise. There were three questions: one on React and two on Spring Boot.

I didn't attempt the React part. I completed the coding question on Spring Boot. One application was asked to code where two GET methods were asked to code. One should give sorted products, something like that, and one on filtered products.

The other question was on Basic Authentication in Spring. Debugging a problem, the IDE ate up a lot of time in the second question, giving me compilation errors for weird reasons. So I just managed to give some solution in the last question of debugging in the last 15 minutes.

After three days, the HR called me for the interview of the second round. The interviewer was, I don't know, not so keen. He kept on asking me questions on topics which I was not confident.

I was asked questions on Java and Spring Boot, which I managed well, but I couldn't manage questions on Kafka, Microservices, and MongoDB, considering my work experience in those was very less.

But I got rejected.

Questions

What is the change in memory in Java 8?

What is the performance of HashMaps prior to Java 8 and now?

What is autoconfiguration in Spring?

Spring bean lifecycle.

How to exclude autoconfiguration.

Bean scopes in Spring.

Till here, I did well. Then he started asking me max, which I don't know.

Design patterns in microservices.

How they communicate with each other.

What is the difference between a Collection and a Document in MongoDB?

What are 1 and -1 in indexes of MongoDB?

I just worked for 2 months in MongoDB and I didn't expect he would start asking me such advanced questions. Anyhow, I understood that I got rejected for the interview.

Was this helpful?
