Quality Assurance Analyst Interview Experience - Raleigh, North Carolina

Process

This was for a position reviewing home loans to see if they should go to foreclosure. I have several years of experience reviewing consumer loans.

I got a call from Robert Half (staffing agency) asking if I was interested. It was a "long-term temporary" position. Fifteen people were hired permanently earlier in the year by the same process. They take you on as a temp, and after you show you can do the job, they hire you permanently. I don't know how many temps didn't make it. After training, you have to be able to process (accurately) a certain number of loans per day.

Cheerful interview with the recruiter at her office went well. Completed paperwork.

Separate interview at the WF processing center. Four-story elongated buildings. Cubeville defined. Lots of cubes, and I couldn't see workers. Secured area with a glass barrier and security sign-in. The place looked fairly empty. A "dress down" environment. One interviewer (also our greeter/guide) was in jeans. Two fellow interviewees. We all interviewed in the same open area at the same time with the same three managers. One fellow interviewee (60ish female) had been laid off in the last round and was back to try to be rehired. She said she was bitter about the layoff.

Interview was in an open area in large cubes with rolling chairs. I talked with three managers/supervisors for a total of about 10 minutes. Very brief (2 minutes max) with two of the interviewers ("So, you went to x college," "Do you have any vacations planned soon?"). One barely looked at me. Neither had read our resumes beforehand. Better interview with one. He described the position, asked about my past loan processing experience, and allowed me to ask about the job.

The recruiter (not in a mean way) said I didn't sell myself well. I didn't convince them I would jump in to learn/do the job. Rusty interviewing skills. I probably didn't talk enough.
