Process
I applied through their website and received an email to set up an interview within 10 days of applying.
I was asked to choose a time with a Karat interviewer and selected a time within a week.
The first round was conducted on the Karat IDE and video environment. The interviewer was not actually from Whatnot but was a Karat employee.
I was first asked to introduce myself and speak about my projects. The interviewer then asked in detail about one of my projects.
The next part of the interview was Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA). I was asked two questions.
Questions
- The first question was an easy DSA array question.
- The second question was the same question but on a 2D array.

Pros: It’s still Day 1.
No shortage of things to build that immediately drive impact and lasting change for the company and the community that relies on what we create. Huge opportunity and responsibility to make social commerce work. Continued year-on-year growth. Incredible talent that sharpens one’s own skills, pushing beyond what is possible.
Still learning and growing after 2 years; still expect to for many more.
Cons: There’s always opportunity to disconnect, but it’s hard nonetheless. Live shopping doesn’t sleep.

Good traction and solid roster of engineers

Pros: The company itself is fairly young, and it's great to see that it has already gained so much traction in the last year or so. While some teams are lagging, the overall engineering org is pretty solid. Lots of ex-Pinterest, Lyft, Uber, and FB engineers have joined the ranks, and only time will tell until this company catches the mainstream.
The company is fully remote and has offices in SF, LA, and NYC. The benefits are great! For people trying to start a family, there's a $20k budget for family care and planning.
Lots of opportunities to make a great impact.
Cons: It's a blessing and a curse that the company has achieved so much in such a short amount of time.
On the practical side, you'd be paying so much on AMT taxes since the valuation is already high. Most people haven't even hit their one-year cliff yet, and for those that did, they probably don't know the tax implications on exercising ISOs and NSOs.
Depending on your team, some teams are lagging in terms of hiring. So be prepared to grind it out!

* Passionate employees. Many love the project and are avid collectors themselves.
* Great pay and perks.
Cons: * The company changes quickly, so the "rules" and expectations change every few months.
* The semiannual review process is like for a 10k+ company and way overkill.
