Software Engineer Interview Experience - Mountain View, California

Process

The initial interview was pretty awesome. They gave a fun take-home challenge and then provided me with a technical phone screen.

However, the on-site was a mess. When I arrived, the team didn't know I was supposed to be interviewed, and they took a while to figure out what to do with me. As I went through the rounds, they started to push me about my previous experience and kept probing to understand why I left my previous companies. When I answered, they kept asking the same question. It felt like they were trying to set me up for failure. They asked me 3-4 times why I didn't get the projects I wanted and kept focusing on what I did wrong instead of the projects I worked on.

To me, they were so focused on getting rid of me.

After my interview, they didn't let me know about the results. They completely ghosted me.

I'm happy I didn't get an offer. The environment felt rigid and unwelcoming.
