I had two interviews with Wise for a Senior Software Engineer position.

The first one was with HR. The recruiter didn’t ask me any questions about my experience or skills and only talked about Wise, the benefits, and the salary range for the role.

The second interview was a live coding session, as many others have described. It was fairly easy. I was asked to implement a circuit breaker for an HTTP client. I explained my approach step by step while the interviewer (another engineer) asked some follow-up questions about trade-offs and edge cases. The conversation went well overall.

After 10 days without any feedback, I reached out to the recruiter to ask for an update. A few minutes later, I received two emails: one saying I had passed to the next round, and another saying that the recruiter had already contacted me days earlier (which wasn’t true; I checked both my inbox and spam folder).

I scheduled the third round (system design), but just a few hours before the interview, I received an email saying that the position had already been filled and that they were now looking for an iOS engineer instead.

The whole process felt very disorganized and unprofessional, which was disappointing because I had high hopes for Wise. I really like the product and the company’s mission, but this experience left a poor impression of how they handle candidates.
