People are nice, and some engineers are very good.
TransferWise sings a very pretty song about culture but does not follow through on it. There is lots of micromanagement coming from team leads, making mandates left and right. Team leads apply company culture only when it suits them.
TransferWise promotes fake Glassdoor reviews. Five pages of five-star reviews from one team at one location in one day. Using peer pressure to get low-paid customer support agents, who are already afraid of losing their jobs, to give five-star reviews is NOT cool!
You need to stop promoting people just because they have been around long enough. And you need to seriously start hiring leads from outside.
I recently completed a screening call, followed by a coding interview where I had to write code. The tasks weren’t particularly difficult, but I found myself working more slowly than I’d hoped. I plan to practice to improve my speed.
It was a technical interview for the first stage, which involved a HackerRank-type question. It was a data structures and algorithms question and needed to be solved within a set timeframe.
Not a professional recruiter. Wise might be a good company, but let down by some recruiters. They should hire better recruiters. Cancel interviews at the last minute without a reason; this is a waste of time for the candidate.
