Pros

The environment is very welcoming, and as a new graduate, I really appreciate the expectations they set for us. Plus, you get to travel with your team and there are a lot of benefits within the company (e.g. RSUs, bi-weekly lunches, monthly breakfasts, gym in the office, etc.).

Moreover, the company culture is really good. From the day you come in, it is made very clear that you are now a Wiser and that mistakes are welcome and you shouldn't be afraid to be yourself. I believe that this is a very healthy place to work in as a software engineer. The work-life balance is perfect as well.

Cons

I think that hiring foreigners in Budapest is still a challenge for Wise. Due to a delay in the residence permit application, a lot of other things got delayed or even cancelled. For example, that delay resulted in missing a London onboarding trip as well as the yearly salary review, whereas local Hungarian grads did not have to go through that. I do hope that that experience makes the process smoother for future hires, though. I think that Wise has a pretty good culture when it comes to learning from mistakes, so I do believe this is fixed already.
