Process

I applied to a LinkedIn posting. The following day, I received an email requesting a fifteen-minute call with the Technical Recruiter for the position. On that call, I was informed that there would be at least two interviews, possibly three should the director wish to interview me as well.

Following that call, I was scheduled for a forty-five-minute Zoom meeting with the team manager four days later. The team manager was located in Pleasanton, California, so the start time of the interview was in the evening, Irish Standard Time.

The interview was relaxed, almost conversational at times. I gave a brief account of my engineering experience to date and how that would relate to this position.

I felt really good about the interview, but as the days progressed with no further communication, I began to expect a notification of rejection, which I received three days later.

This was my first interview in three years, so I was nervous and did not answer the questions posed as well as I could have. This is an absolute shame, as the position, as described, sounds like a subset of my current employment activities, and I would have been well capable of exceeding in the role.
